*The Secretary General of the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement Central Committee, Mr Jean Nkuete, hereby communicates:*
Since the beginning of the year 2025, particularly in the wake of the Head of State's latest address to the Nation on 31 December, there have been some feverish excitement among various political and social stakeholders on the national political scene. This is characterised by an upsurge in hateful, diabolical and misleading speeches, aiming at denigrating the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul BIYA, discrediting the government and institutions, particularly those involved in the electoral process. They have been generating messages of destabilisation, demonising the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement and its National President, in his capacity as the Party's statutory candidate during the forthcoming presidential election.

Obviously, these anti-republican, irresponsible and reprehensible actions, which are the result of well-oiled and carefully thought-out schemes, have three fundamental aims:
1. First and foremost, to create and maintain a widespread climate of fear, tension, panic, anxiety and insecurity among the population this year, during the presidential election;
2. Then, they want to propagate doubt and confusion in the minds of President Paul BIYA's traditional supporters, who are the vast majority, in all the regions as well as abroad, especially in the areas presented as the CPDM strongholds; and,
3. Finally, to instil fear in people's minds of possible violence in anticipation of defeat for some or non-participation, in the presidential election, for others.
In the face of this state of affairs, the Secretary General of the CPDM Central Committee welcomes and congratulates the high level of discernment and responsibility as well as the political maturity of all our compatriots, especially the youth who are the prime targets of all kinds of manipulation.
In this regard, the Secretary General avails himself of this opportunity to express his gratitude to all CPDM militants. Firstly, for their unwavering commitment to President Paul BIYA and, secondly for their relentless efforts towards strengthening the credibility and image of our institutions throughout the country. This, despite the violence of the adversity, whose manifestations go far beyond the limits of freedom of expression in a democratic society, as provided for by national and international codes.
In particular, he reiterates his guidelines to the Heads of the Permanent Regional and Divisional Delegations of the Central Committee, the Presidents of the CPDM, WCPDM and YCPDM various Sections, Sub-Sections, Branches and Cells, to intensify the close follow-up of voters' registration operations by ensuring the enrolment of the greatest number of our compatriots committed to the CPDM, vigilance, dissuasion and persuasion.
More generally, the Secretary General of the CPDM Central Committee would like to recall that Cameroon is not a media republic, be they social media, but rather a state governed by the rule of law, wherein elections, especially those by universal suffrage, are the expression of the people's will and the basis of government authority.
Hence the importance of free elections, to which the CPDM has always been and remains strongly committed. Free elections, however, presuppose and imply free voting citizens who do not vote under pressure and in fear, who have not been abused, manipulated or coerced by all kinds of procedures, in particular disinformation, slander, incitement to violence, intimidation, rigged elections, mental corruption....
He also wishes to recall the secular nature of the State, which must be preserved and consolidated, bearing in mind that secularism has so far facilitated the struggle for the emancipation of our people in peace, unity and harmony.
Moreover, the Secretary General of the Central Committee hereby calls upon the sense of responsibility, moderation, self-restraint and mutual respect of all - political, social and religious actors, media professionals, leaders from all walks of life and those involved in the public arena - in order to promote, in this crucial electoral year, a peaceful social climate that confirms the uniqueness of our country and of Cameroonian democracy in the African political geosphere, by encouraging the confrontation of ideas in political competitions.
However, the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement, in its position as the leading party close to power, remains vigilant and is ready to thwart all attempts aiming at tarnishing both the image of the institutions and the Republic and at stirring up social tensions. Naturally, the Party commits itself to making an active, positive and courteous contribution to the forthcoming presidential election, so as to ensure the strengthening of institutions, democracy, progress and the improvement of our compatriots' living conditions.
The CPDM and its candidate for the forthcoming presidential election, aware of the scale of the challenges to be faced and the shortcomings to be remedied, therefore promise to offer our compatriots a social project based on proposals that are innovative, original, modern, adapted to our times and our environment, but also realistic and achievable in the face of the dangers and constant changes in the world around us. A social plan that bears the stamp of experience, wisdom and moderation, because contemporary history, which is unfolding before our eyes and which we are living day by day, is an eloquent testimony to the importance of experience, patriarchal wisdom and moderation in the management of States and the development of international relations, all which are linked to time well spent.
In conclusion, the Secretary General of the Central Committee would like to reassure all our compatriots and urge them not to be afraid, but to remain vigilant and to look to the future with confidence and optimism.
He further confirms that the CPDM will continue, better than in the past, on the strength of its high sense of responsibility and renewed confidence, to carry the ambitions and hopes of Cameroon's people in an increasingly uncertain world, where the bankruptcy and bitter failure of amateurism are observed daily in nations' government.
