OFFICIAL STATEMENT
The Conclave of the Bui Fons in Bafoussam was convened with the overriding objective of promoting peace, unity and mutual understanding among the traditional rulers of our Division. It is therefore regrettable that public discourse has drifted away from this noble purpose and become centered on the issue of paramountcy which is neither the priority nor a matter for public contention.
Today, Bui Division faces challenges that demand our collective attention. Our people long for peace and our Fons remain committed to finding lasting solutions through dialogue and mutual respect. This is where our focus should be.
I therefore call on all sons and daughters of Oku to immediately desist from insulting, denigrating or publicly attacking any Fon in Bui Division. Such actions are inconsistent with our customs, our values and the respect we owe to the institution of traditional leadership.
Let us allow the Fons to resolve their concerns through the established traditional mechanisms. Our duty as a people is to support every effort that promotes peace, strengthens unity and safeguards the dignity of all the Fondoms of Bui Division.
