STATEMENT OF SYMPATHY AND SOLIDARITY
On behalf of Makongo Family Charity (MAFAC) and in my personal capacity, Dr. David Makongo, I extend our deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and to everyone directly and indirectly affected by the devastating floods and landslide in Limbe. Our thoughts and prayers are especially with the bereaved families during this painful time. May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace, and may the injured recover quickly.
This tragedy must also serve as a warning and a wake-up call. To the Prime Minister of Cameroon, the Mayors of the Limbe City Councils, and all citizens: the rainy season has only just begun. This is not the end—it is the beginning of a period that demands preparedness, prevention, and collective action.
While floods are natural disasters, many of their consequences can be reduced through planning, public awareness, improved drainage, safer settlements, and early warning systems.
MAFAC stands in solidarity with the people of Limbe and is ready to support humanitarian and community-based efforts aimed at preventing further tragedies. Protecting lives is a shared responsibility, and the time to act is before the next flood, not after it.
