Edison Fru Ndi has just been projected as the model contractor every young entrepreneur in Bamenda wants to copy — because of how he transformed *GBHS Bamenda Campus C.
This was not a normal rehabilitation. It was a UNDP/PPRD project that many expected to fail or delay like other projects in the North West.
1. He delivered in half the time, with quality. The contract was for 5 months. He delivered in 2.5 months.
"For the first time in the history of the North West Region that we know, this project was completed in less than three months" — Djunang Marceliout, representing the Governor of North West.
The Regional Delegate of Secondary Education said the school is now a _"structure of assurance to the education community"_ that the state is still planning for students despite the crisis.
2. He transformed the campus beyond the contract. Scope was: 27 classrooms rehabilitated, walkways and ramps built to make campus more inclusive, 810 benches, whiteboards, teachers chairs, tables, cupboards.
But Fru Ndi, CEO of *Dreamland Connect PLC, added his own money and ideas:
- Upgraded staff toilets into modern toilets
- Constructed a modern flag stand
- Extended a contracted 200m wall by extra 20m
- Landscaping, flowers, red-and-white markings
- 27 foldable green boards that reduce reflection and improve teaching 2016

3. Why this makes him a role model for North West contractors.
In Bamenda, contractors have a bad name — abandoned sites, poor cement, cracks after 3 months.
Edison Fru Ndi broke that stereotype:
a) President of NOWECOSY: Before now, _"his leadership trappings caused his election as President of the North West Contractors Syndicate NOWECOSY. His clean jobs marketed his candidacy. Unlike some infamous contractors who abandon or do rough works, authorities extol Edison Fru Ndi's touch"_
b) Employer of youth: His gravel plant alone feeds 100 youths, his company employs hundreds. He also lit streets in Bamenda and donated during COVID.
c) Proof that local can do better than outsiders: UNDP praised him for _"supporting local solutions to local problems"_. Students returning in September will find _"a campus that has been built back and rebuilt better"_.
For contractors in Bamenda, the lesson is clear: Don't just do the contract — *add value, finish before deadline, and make the community proud. That is why today, from the Governor's office to the Principal of GBHS Bamenda, everyone is calling his name as the example.
