DR TANIFORM PETER: The Distinguished North West Youth Ambassador. A Force To Reckon With
By The Watchdog Tribune*
In a region where many elites ran away, one distinguished son of the North West stayed, built, and invested in the youth — Dr Taniform Peter Ngwa.
World Bank Lead Transport Specialist, Infrastructure Program Leader, CPDM Section President for Mezam I A, and above all, the man unanimously crowned Youth Ambassador by youths from all seven Divisions of the North West Region.
He is not a loud politician. He is a force to reckon with because he turns money into action and action into hope.
*1. The Man Who Made Youth The Centre of Development*
On July 24, 2025, Bamenda witnessed history — the North West Regional Youth Mega Rally at the Mezam SDO Esplanade, convened and fully sponsored by Dr Taniform Peter.
Theme: *“Understanding the Times: The Beginning of a New Dawn and a New Narrative.”*
More than 2,000 youths from Mezam, Momo, Ngoketunjia, Bui, Boyo, Menchum and Donga-Mantung gathered. His keynote was raw truth:
He reminded them that between 2016-2019, over 90% of primary schools and 80% of secondary schools in the North West shut down, 500,000 children out of school, literacy dropped to 70% — and that Cameroon loses $64 million in destroyed assets with a potential 9% GDP drop if the crisis persists.
Then he offered the new narrative:
“This is not just another event. This is a turning point. A time to understand the times and to know what we should be doing.”
And he laid out *Three Life-Changing Pathways* for North West youth:
- Skills and entrepreneurship instead of waiting for white-collar jobs
- Technology and innovation to compete globally
- Peace and community leadership as the foundation for stability
For that speech alone, the youths rose and crowned him their *Ambassador.*
*2. Football as a Tool Against Drugs and Delinquency*
For 6 years, Dr Taniform has sponsored the *Bamenda I Peace and Unity Tournament* in Bujong, Bamendakwe — the biggest grassroots football festival in Mezam.
16 teams: seniors, veterans, U-17. But the goal is bigger than trophy.
He uses football to:
- Foster peace and social cohesion in Bamendakwe, which despite crisis, has become a cosmopolitan growth hub
- Fight drug abuse, juvenile delinquency and idleness among youth
- Give youths a platform to exchange ideas and be mentored
Atugolah FC, Nkar FC, All Stars of Ntenefor — all born from his platform. The finals always draw the Governor's representative, City Mayor Achobong Paul, Fon of Bamendakwe Fon Forchesiri III, and President of North West House of Chiefs.
Governor's IG Seidou Musa said: _“All the youth came out… This is an indication that school resumption will be the same.”_
3. Accountability – A Pacesetter in Leadership*
Dr Taniform is the first Section President in history to personally inspect council projects — not to fight the Mayor, but to ensure the party's program is implemented.
He visited Bamenda Proximity Stadium under construction, roads, gas plant, medicalized health centres, water extension. His message to Mayor Mbigha Felix and Councillors: _The CPDM invested you. The population must see the projects._
That is why the Bamenda I population salutes him as a model of accountable leadership.
4. The Humanist – Remembering Those Who Told Our Stories*
On August 31, 2025, Dr Taniform gathered journalists in Bamenda I Council Hall for a Press Café. Eight children of deceased journalists — Erick Motomo, Manyong, Fawar, Vushigho, Anye Nde, Chris Mbunwe, Wambo, Precilia Ninge — received FCFA 50,000 each, school bags, books and materials.
His words:
“Some of these journalists have passed away and their children are struggling. I thought it was wise for us to sit together, share a cup of coffee and chat.”
Why He Is A Force To Reckon With*
- He is global (World Bank) but local (Bamendakwe elite who sleeps in his village)
- He is political (Section President) but not divisive — Fons, SDOs, City Mayors, opposition youths all sit on his platform
- He invests his own money in youth, not just speeches
- He is trusted by both administration and street
In the words of one youth leader, Mekom Samuel, President of CNYC North West: _Dr Taniform did not just back a rally. He backed a generation._
For The Watchdog Tribune, Dr Taniform Peter is more than a sponsor. He is *The Distinguished North West Youth Ambassador — A Force to Reckon With, and the New Dawn the youth have been waiting for.*
