Bamenda City Mayor decries killing of excavator driver at work as Edge company suspends reconstruction works
The Mayor of the Bamenda City council has bitterly frowned at the brutal killing of an excavator driver at work in Bamenda. Kompta Elyse the young excavator operator 38, was gunned down in cold blood Tuesday morning by armed separatists while at work at the La Chance bridge at small makon in Bamenda.
Speaking to The Watchdog Tribune on Wednesday in Bamenda, the City Mayor Paul Achobong decried the act and expressed fears that it may go a long way to discourage other contractors in the reconstruction plan for the city of Bamenda in the coming days. For example the C2D projects which are about to kick off to give the city of Bamenda a face lift, may seriously be affected as the contractors may be scared of this recent inhuman and brutal killing of a road worker. Here Paul Achombong;
..."This killing is a very saddened thing. Besides the work he was doing for the company and for himself, the greatest fulfillment was to the population...".
Mayor Paul Achobong pleaded to the armed groups and the population of Bamenda to embrace peace and development in the city of Bamenda for the common good. Hear him again as he laments... "
"This is not good. This is not our practice and this is not our way of doing things. A Bamenda man does not behave like this. A man cannot come to develop your place and you kill him like this and throw him on the road and dogs are feasting on his blood."
"Who do they think will work on these roads? Angels who will not be shot by guns? So my humble appeal is that if anybody has anything in his or her heart that will go against the development of Bamenda, that person should seek forgiveness." the City Mayor cried out!!!
