The South West North West Women's Taskforce (SNWOT), a leading peacebuilding coalition in Cameroon, has just completed a successful six-month restructuring process. This strategic move aims to strengthen the coalition's capacity, enhance its impact, and ensure its continued relevance in the evolving peace and security landscape of Cameroon.
SNWOT has been instrumental in contributing to ending the ongoing Anglophone crisis through humanitarian interventions, human rights, peacebuilding, and community development activities. Over the past eight years, the coalition has witnessed significant progress in gender, conflict transformation, and peacebuilding programming in conflict-affected communities in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon.
The restructuring process involved a comprehensive assessment of the coalition's current structure, programs, and operational modalities. The new structure and strategic plan are designed to enhance organizational effectiveness, streamline processes, and improve efficiency and resource allocation.
According to a press release signed by Baiye Frida Ebai, National Communication Officer for the South West North West Women Task Force, the restructuring process culminated in elections at the national and regional levels with Mme Clotilda Andiensa Waah emerging as General Coordinator, Mme Arrah Nkongho as South West Coordinator and Dr. Eileen Tabuwe Akwo as North West Regional Coordinator. These elections were supported and coordinated by the Elections Committee, headed by Dr. Mrs. Agbor Madaline and comprising Committee members Dr. Ramatu Abdu, Madam Sophie Fon Ngassa, and Madam Ngome Priscilia. The newly constituted Board of Directors includes Mrs. Omam Esther Njomo (Vision Bearer), Dr. Mrs. Agbor Magdaline, Mrs. Beatrice Ndefon, Madam Chambi Julie, and Madam Bolima Nancy.
The release expressed confidence that the new team would build a more peaceful and just future for all Cameroonians while contributing to the restoration of stability in the troubled South West and North West Regions of Cameroon.
SNWOT's efforts have not gone unnoticed. The coalition has received recognition for its contributions to peacebuilding and women's empowerment from the Cameroonian public. With its newfound strategy, SNWOT is poised to make an even greater impact in promoting peace, security, and women's empowerment in Cameroon.
SNWOT provides a platform for women to share knowledge, exchange strategies, and galvanize solidarity, thereby influencing conflict resolution and peacebuilding processes in Cameroon.
The newly elected General Coordinator of SNWOT, Clotilda Andiensa Waah, took her oath of office, solemnly swearing to faithfully and diligently serve the organization. In her oath, she pledged to uphold SNWOT's mission, vision, and values, and to work tirelessly to promote the rights and empowerment of women, girls, and marginalized communities affected by the crisis.
She vowed to lead SNWOT with integrity, transparency, and accountability, ensuring inclusivity, diversity, and responsiveness to the needs of its members and stakeholders. Clotilda Andiensa Waah also promised to respect and uphold SNWOT's constitution and bylaws, as well as all applicable laws and regulations.
With her oath, she committed to fostering a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and mutual respect within SNWOT, and to promoting partnerships and alliances that advance their shared goals.
