The industrialisation of Cameroon is undeniably underway. During his working visit to the Littoral region, Professor FUH CALISTUS GENTRY, Minister of Mines, Industry, and Technological Development (ai), witnessed firsthand the achievements of Cameroonian industrialists
The first stop on 19 March 2025 was the premises of Multiprint S.A. Founded 42 years ago and entirely owned by Cameroonian shareholders, the company provides packaging services and products to the industry.
During the tour of the facilities, the Director General, Ibrahima Ousmanou, requested the creation of a platform for dialogue with new industries to help them expand their market. In response to this request, the Minister committed to establishing a working group to provide specific support to this industrial printing and packaging company, which employs over 300 young people on a full-time basis.
Second stop: Société Camerounaise de Savonnerie. Specialising in the processing of oilseeds and the production of household soap and hygiene products, SCS, led by Managing Director Patrick FOTSO, aims to establish 15 new factories across the country over the next eight years. In light of the challenges encountered, Professor FUH CALISTUS GENTRY clarified that the government has a short-term project to provide energy solutions.
Finally, the delegation, accompanied by the Minister, visited the CCMM S.A.
(Construction, Carrosserie Menuiserie Métallique) site. This company manufactures metal parts for industrial purposes and civil engineering projects.
During the working session, Managing Director Mr. TANGUE Bou Marcel raised several challenges, including the lack of skilled labour and energy shortages.
In response, the Minister of Mines, Industry, and Technological Development (ai) assured the government's support for local industries and for these companies, which are Cameroon's champions in the implementation of the import-substitution policy.
Thus, the third day of work concluded on a positive note for the industrial leader, who gained valuable insight into the industrialisation of Cameroon across various sectors.
