Prof. Victor Julius Ngoh Urges Journalists to Use Recent Photos of Presidential Candidates*
Former University of Buea Registrar and renowned historian, Prof. Victor Julius Ngoh, has called on Cameroonian journalists, both in print and on television,to play a responsible role in the lead-up to the October 12, 2025 presidential election.
In a public appeal, the academic stressed the importance of using up-to-date photographs of President Paul Biya and all other candidates when publishing political content. According to him, relying on outdated images from five or ten years ago could mislead voters, even if they thoroughly study the political manifestos.
Prof. Ngoh emphasized that the stakes in the upcoming election are too high for candidates to rely solely on spokespersons or intermediaries. He insists that all aspirants must be visible and actively present, engaging with the population across Cameroon.
"The people must see and hear those seeking to lead them," he said, underlining the need for direct interaction in the campaign season.
