Prof. Fuh Calistus Gentry, presided over official ceremony for award of mining permit to CAMINCO S.A. in Mborguéné gold mine in the East Region.

On August 19, 2025, the Minister of Mines, Industry, and Technological Development(ai), Prof. Fuh Calistus Gentry, presided over the official ceremony for the awarding of a mining permit to CAMINCO S.A. for the Mborguéné gold mine in the East Region.

Pursuant to the Ministerial decree No. 000212/MINMIDT of August 18, 2025, this permit grants CAMINCO S.A. the right to operate the Bétaré Oya mine for gold. The mine is located in the Mborguéné locality, within the Bétaré-Oya and Garoua Boulaï towns of the Lom and Djérem Division in the East Region.

In accordance with Article 51 (4) of Law No. 2023/014 of December 19, 2023, on the Mining Code of the Republic of Cameroon, CAMINCO S.A. must begin effective operation of the deposit within a maximum of two years from the date of award, or the permit will be withdrawn.

CAMINCO S.A. represented by its CEO, Mr. Roger Bogne, guaranteed the responsible operation of the mine. He also promised to collaborate with authorities and local communities to develop infrastructure, ensure technology transfer, and build a training center for mining techniques, among other things.

Representatives from SONAMINES, MINMIDT, and CAMINCO S.A. attended the event.

Le Ministre des Mines, de l’Industrie et du Développement Technologique(ai) le Pr FUH CALISTUS  GENTRY a présidé ce 19 août 2025, la cérémonie de remise solennelle du permis d’exploitation de la mine d’or de Mborguene à la société CAMINCO S.A dans la Région de l’Est.

Régis par l'Arrêté N*000212/MINMIDT du 18 août 2025 ce texte octroie au profit de la société minière CAMINCO S.A un permis d'exploitation de la mine dénommé BETARE OYA, valable pour Or, dans la localité de Mborguéné, situé dans les arrondissements de Bétaré-Oya et de Garoua Boulaï, Département du Lom et Djérem. Région de l'Est.

Conformément aux dispositions de l'article 51 (4) de la Loi n°2023/014 du 19 décembre 2023 portant Code minier en République du Cameroun, la société CAMINCO S.A est tenue de commencer l'exploitation effective du gisement dans un délai de deux (02) ans maximum à compter de ce jour, sous peine de retrait du permis.

Notons que la société CAMINCO S.A représentée par son PDG monsieur Roger BOGNE a donné les garanties pour une exploitation responsable de la mine et a promis de travailler en collaboration avec les autorités  et les populations locales pour développer les infrastructures, assurer le transfert de technologie, la construction d'un centre de formation aux techniques d'exploitation, etc.

Précisons que cet événement a connu la présence des représentants de la SONAMINES, des responsables du MINMIDT et de la société CAMINCO S.A.
