MINMIDT Pledges to Boost Youth and Women Employment in Mining Sector.

Yaoundé, Cameroon - The Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development (MINMIDT) has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing employment opportunities for young people and women in the mining sector. This pledge was made during a meeting held in Yaoundé on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, between MINMIDT officials, heads of mining companies, and representatives of vulnerable groups.

Led by Acting Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development, Professor Fuh Calistus Gentry, the meeting focused on exploring prospects and employment opportunities for young people and women in the mining industry. The discussions aimed to identify ways to further facilitate access to employment for these groups, in line with the ministry's objectives.

The meeting provided a platform for stakeholders to engage in dialogue and explore strategies for increasing youth and women participation in the mining sector. The MINMIDT's initiative underscores the importance of promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth, and creating opportunities for vulnerable groups to contribute to the country's development.

The Acting Minister emphasized the need for mining companies to prioritize employment and skills development for young people and women, highlighting the ministry's commitment to supporting initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion in the sector.
