When Paul Atanga Nji Offered 57 Million to the State to Build Cameroon

In 1988, a 27-year-old businessman answered the call of President Paul Biya, who urged young people to "do something for the development of the country." His name: Paul Atanga Nji.

Through his companies EJHA (Jeunes Hommes d’affaires – Young Businessmen), specializing in international trade, and Global Finances, dedicated to financing young entrepreneurs, he decided to allocate 10% of his companies' profits to support government initiatives.

The result: 57 million FCFA spontaneously donated to the State and the CPDM (Cameroon People's Democratic Movement), as his personal contribution to the development of Cameroon.

On the instructions of the Head of State, the official ceremony for the handover of this donation was presided over by Dr. Joseph Fofé, then Minister of Youth and Sports, in the presence of several members of the government, including: Francis Nkwain, Hamajoda Adjoudji, Yao Aïssatou, Joseph Mbede, Denis Ekani, Amadou Ali, Tikela Kemogne, and Namvou Benoît.

That day, Paul Atanga Nji's gesture made a lasting impression: a young Cameroonian putting his success at the service of the country, in the spirit of the New Deal championed by President Paul Biya."

Quand Paul Atanga Nji offrait 57 million à l'Etat Pour batir le Cameroun 

En 1988, un jeune homme d’affaires de 27 ans, répondait à l’appel du Chef de l’État S.E. Paul Biya, qui exhortait la jeunesse à « faire quelque chose pour le développement du pays ». Son nom : Paul Atanga Nji. 

À travers ses entreprises EJHA (Jeunes Hommes d’affaires), spécialisée dans le négoce international, et Global Finances, dédiée au financement de jeunes opérateurs économiques, il décide de prélever 10 % des bénéfices de ses sociétés pour soutenir l’action du gouvernement.

Résultat : 57 millions de FCFA offerts spontanément à l’État et au RDPC, au titre de sa contribution personnelle au développement du Cameroun.

Sur instruction du Chef de l’État, la cérémonie officielle de remise de ce don fut présidée par le Dr Joseph Fofé, alors Ministre de la Jeunesse et des Sports, en présence de plusieurs membres du gouvernement, dont : Francis Nkwain, Hamajoda Adjoudji, Yao Aïssatou, Joseph Mbede, Denis Ekani, Amadou Ali, Tikela Kemogne et Namvou Benoît.

Ce jour-là, le geste de Paul Atanga Nji marquait les esprits : un jeune Camerounais plaçant sa réussite au service du pays, dans l’esprit du Renouveau national prôné par le Président Paul Biya.
