ATANGA NJI DEMANDS URGENT ACTION AS GARBAGE PILES UP IN YAOUNDÉ 🇨🇲
Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, has called for immediate action to tackle the worsening waste management crisis in Yaoundé.
During a high-level meeting held on August 28, the Minister expressed serious concern over the growing piles of garbage in several neighbourhoods, some of which have reportedly gone weeks and even months without proper waste collection.
He emphasized that Yaoundé has successfully maintained cleanliness during major international events and stressed that the same standard should be upheld every day.
🗣️ “Yaoundé is the capital of Cameroon. We have the moral obligation and the duty to make Yaoundé a clean town.”
The meeting brought together officials from MINAT, MINHDU, MINDDEVEL and MINFI, alongside the Governor of the Centre Region, Mfoundi administrators, mayors, and waste collection companies.
Following the meeting, officials carried out field visits to several garbage hotspots in Yaoundé III and VI, where waste accumulation has obstructed roads, disrupted traffic, and posed serious public health concerns.
❓Do you think this latest intervention will finally solve Yaoundé’s long-standing garbage crisis?
