BALI COUNCIL UNDER SCRUTINY: QUESTIONS OVER 27 MILLION CFA PROJECT NEVER EXECUTED

BALI COUNCIL UNDER SCRUTINY: QUESTIONS OVER  27 MILLION CFA PROJECT NEVER EXECUTED

A formal complaint filed before the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam Division,Simon Emile Moh, is raising serious questions about the management of the Bali Council in the North West Region.

Dated January 9, 2024, the complaint alleges that the Bali Council did not hold a council session throughout 2023, and claims that explanations sought from the Mayor,Wandum Ernest Bunga, and council executives over the matter were not provided.

The complaint also puts the spotlight on a project reportedly valued at 27 million CFA francs, involving the T-Junction Bali–Mbamumbu Village and the Ngegha exit toward Mile 83.

According to the complainant, concerns remain over the actual execution of the project despite claims that payment had been made.

The document calls for the council authorities to explain how the project was carried out and urges the Senior Divisional Officer to require answers from the project committee.

Copies were reportedly sent to the Bali Urban Council and the Governor of the North West Region.
The SDO of Mezam is the supervisory authority of the Bali Nyonga Council. It is worth noting that 2 years after the complaint nothing had been done.

According to MINEPAT,the Bali Council is ranked 33rd out of 34th in the Execution of Northwest Regional Public Investment Budget.

How transparent and accountable are  local councils when it comes to council sessions, public projects and the management of taxpayers’ money?

For a community to develop, citizens must not only see projects ,they must also be able to ask questions, demand accountability and receive clear answers.

BALI DESERVES ANSWERS.
